A certificate of rehabilitation is a form of post-conviction relief in which a judge finds that someone has been rehabilitated after a criminal conviction. A COR applies to felony cases and certain misdemeanor sex offenses.

To qualify for a Certificate of Rehabilitation, you must:

  • have been discharged from custody, parole or probation; and
  • have not been incarcerated in any penal institution, jail or agency since release; and
  • are not on probation for the commission of any other felony; and
  • have resided for five years in Fullerton immediately prior to filing the petition.

Depending on the nature of the original conviction, you may have to wait up to ten years after serving your sentence to apply for a certificate of rehabilitation.
